FAQ

What is FRP ?

FRP is an acronym for fiberglass reinforced plastic. It is used in a variety of construction materials and is widely used in the construction, aviation, automotive, aquatic and many other industries.

Is FIBREGLASS Environmental Friendly?

Yes. Fiberglass is so durable and long lasting, it does not have to be repeatedly replaced, re-painted or finished like other products.

What are the benefits of using FIBREGLASS?

Fibreglass is waterproof, lightweight and has high tensile strength has good thermal insulation properties and longevity. It is chemical and stain resistant. Fibreglass is easily repaired and Corrosion resistant.

What is the difference between Plain weave and Twill weave Carbon Fibre?

Plain Each warp fibre passes alternatively under and over each weft fibre. (High crimp impacts lower mechanical properties). Twill One or more warp fibres alternatively weave over and under two or more weft fibres in a regular repeated manner. This produces diagonal rib. Superior wet out and drape, over plain, with only a small reduction in stability. Reduced crimp gives smoother surface and high mechanical properties.

What are the different types of FIBREGLASS & RESINS?

There are 2 types of glass fibres, E-glass and S-glass. S-glass is chemically different, stronger and much more expensive. S-glass is usually only used in special applications in the aerospace industry. E-glass is most commonly used as chop strand mat but can also be woven into a variety of cloths.

There are 4 types of resin used with fibreglass – polyester, vinylester, epoxy and phenolic.

What is EPOXY RESIN and why is it superior than other products?

Epoxy resin is a two-part thermosetting polymer consisting of the resin itself and a hardener. When combined, these two materials cause a chemical reaction that creates heat – which changes the liquid epoxy to a solid. It is this process – and the solid created – that bring about the epoxy resin properties of superior bonding, coating and sealing that so many rely on for a wide variety of products and projects.

What to be done before Oil Painting Styro / Polystyrene Sculptures?

In case of oil-based paint needed for Polystyrene Sculptures, the surface must be coated with a special Styro hard coating first.

Can we bond Styro/ Polystrene with Steel/ Aluminium Structures?

Yes, there are adhesives specialised for Styro/Polystyrene which can be adhered to Steel/Aluminium structures without burning the Polystyrene Sheets.

Can you apply GELCOAT to Fibreglass ?

Gelcoat is a liquid that hardens to form a thick layer that's used to protect fiberglass and give it a shiny, smooth finish. Applying gelcoat to fiberglass is simple if you have the right tools and take care to mix your gelcoat properly.
